Eindhoven – Photonics Applications Week (PHAPPS Week) takes place during the week September 30 – October 4, 2019, in Eindhoven and Helmond, The Netherlands. PHAPPS Week is an umbrella event, geared towards the business professional who wants to know more about the practical applications of photonics in his or her industry.
PHAPPS Week is all about practice, not theory. During the workshops, exhibitions, lectures, networking events, debates and hackathons you get first-hand experience and insight into how the fast growing field of photonics can benefit your business and industry.
This week is about acquiring knowledge and insights and establishing cooperation and partnerships. It will not be a gathering of photonics researchers or people who know a lot about photonics, but a combination with professionals from other sectors such as Healthcare, IoT, Agrifood, Automotive, Optics & Optoelectronics.
Dedicated conferences and workshops to the above-mentioned fields will be organized by companies and organisations that are already using photonics in their business: Photonic Integration Conference, IoT & Li-Fi Event, Automotive Photonics Conference, DSPE Optics and Optomechanics SYMPOSIUM + FAIR + Demonstrations, Agrifood Photonics workshop, How photonics helps to improve Health workshop.
Brabant is one of the leading global players in photonics. It mainly owes that position to years of research conducted by Eindhoven University of Technology. Companies that were founded as spin-offs from that research, such as SMART Photonics and EFFECT Photonics, now set the pace in photonic chip development on the global stage. To stay ahead of competitors Brabant invests thoroughly in photonics. For this reasons it also supports Photonics Applications Week, to show once more that for photonics Brabant is the place to be.
